EARL'S HILL FORAY

WHEN

Saturday 19th October 2024 at 10:30am

WHERE

Meet at the Earl's Hill car park.

Grid reference: SO409057

Best postcode: SY5 0UJ

What3Words: ///dignify.celebrate.grudge

Approach the parking for Earl’s Hill from the A488 at Pontesford, north of Pontesbury. Take the lane heading south at SO408064, by a tractor showroom (undergoes frequent transformations of ownership and may no longer be extant), just after the ‘Speed Check’ sign. There is a small brown sign ‘Earls Hill’, hard to spot. Road is marked ‘unsuitable for coaches and HGVs’. Follow this lane for ¾ mile. Ignore a left fork, ie bear to right following ‘Road Narrows’ sign. After about 200 yards parking is on left. The parking area is accessed by a sharp left turn back on yourself.

Do not rely on the postcode to guide you to the exact meeting point for a foray. Postcodes in rural areas often cover a large area. The OS grid reference is more precise and unchanging. What3Words is also more precise, and the detailed instructions should also help to pinpoint the location.

Beginners are welcome at all forays.

Please read the Foray Risk Assessment before attending. It is advisable to confirm with the leader that the foray is taking place, as on extremely rare occasions forays have had to be changed at short notice. Please email the Secretary for more details.
